Our mission at College Life is to provide and promote an enjoyable Christian atmosphere for all college-age students. In Matthew 22:37-39 Jesus gives the two greatest commandments. The first, to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind, and the second, to love your neighbor as yourself. We are committed to Loving God and Loving People. In order to be effective Christians, we try to apply the four fundamentals of the Christian walk each day (Reading the Bible, Prayer, Fellowship/Worship and Witnessing). At College Life it is our desire to have hearts and minds that are Christ centered and to actively pursue His heart through worship, discipleship, outreach and missions. We hope to warn every man and teach every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus (Colossians 1:28). In doing so we want to have fun! We believe that the Christian life can be exciting, especially for college students. We want to be a group with eternal life that experiences the true, abundant “College Life” (John 10:10).

Salty Christians

“You are the salt of the earth”~ Matthew 5:13

“Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. 6Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:5-6

The Jesus of the bible sat with tax collecters, ate with sinners, walked among the poor, healed the diseased, spoke to prostitutes, opposed hypocritical religious authority, hung out with crooks, was a leader and friend of unlearned men. What Jesus do you follow? Is it the Religious Jesus, you know the blue eyed, silky hair, passive, feminine looking church picture or Biblical Jesus, yes the Jesus of the bible the temple table flipping one who stood up to hyper-religious fanatics? We bible believing Christ followers are called salt of the earth. In greek salt is the word halas which is fancy for natural salt. Natural salt flavors, purifies, cleanses, and preserves stuff from spoil. I honestly believe Jesus didn’t call us to be one giant pile of salt but often times we see that in churches and among christians today. There is a world of people who need healing, who need to be cleansed and purified. There is many who need preservation from wordly spoil. Salt is life.. salt is flavor.. salt is Christ. Imagine its Friday night your on a hot date at a nice restaurant, its steak night at the sizzler you reach over, grab the salt to add a little flavor to your steak. You shake once, pretty good, shake twice, even better, shake once more and the whole thing dumps out!!!! Now, how good is that steak going to taste with a pile of salt, yeah no bueno. This illustrations leads us into the second passage. Colossians says that in our conversation we are to be “seasoned with salt”. In light of witnessing we must remove ourself and allow God to speak first and foremost but traditionally some people have been taught to bible thump and scream “repent, turn or burn, come be washed by the blood of the lamb” from the moment they say hello. Needless to say this would be one incredibly salty steak to swallow. Maybe this works for some people but if I was broken, lost, curious and confused or a new seeker of the faith I would freak out I might even punch the fool that screamed at me. As we look at what God through Paul writes in verse 6 we see that “seasoned is preceeded by “full of grace”, grace by definition is unmeritted favor or undeserved favor. We are to extend grace in our conversations to others meaning we are to express the attitude of grace in readiness to unconditionally give a representation of Christ through our words. And in the same way that Christ accepted us when we were broken, depraved, sin stained addicts and separated creations we are to accept them. I pray that we would branch out of click-ish piles of salt and seek to minister to the lost, the skeptic, the seekers, and poor in spirit by truly living out in the literal sense the Great Commandment by loving our neighbor. You know that phrase after the verse “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind, that neighbor is the person to your right, left, in front and behind you at work, in class, hek even at the store. May we live in Him to remain seasonsed for life.

What mountain?

“For assuredly I say to you whoever says to this mountain Be removed and be cast into the sea and does not doubt in his heart but believe says will be done, he will have whatever he says”

Do you pray with faith or is it just a prayer of maybe. The power of prayer is so beneficial yet it is the least used by Gods people.

GOD IS MORE WILLING TO GIVE THAN WE ARE TO ASK.

Although we do pray and ask, are we expecting, are we really believing in the words that proceed our mouth, do we have faith in our petition?
If we believe in our heart our faith assures us answered prayers. If there is any bit of doubt our prayer will be void. If we get on our knees before the almighty and ask Him for anything in prayer we had better have NO DOUBT IN OUR HEART, OR MIND. God is good.

22 “Have faith in God,” Jesus answered.23 “I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:22-24.

What is the mountain in your life??? How big is this mountain???
Notice there is no size demision given to the mountain in the passage. Whether you facing an ant hill or Mount Everest Pray in Faith, in the name of Jesus, and in the will of the Father and mountains will move.
